Nina Hagen findet die Diskussion über den Afghanistaneinsatz der Bundeswehr zum Kotzen. Denn die entsetzlichen Folgen der von den Alliierten eingesetzten Uranwaffen werden immer völlig verschwiegen! Kaum jemand in Deutschland weiß, was das für Waffen sind.

Wie im Irak und im Kosovo erkranken und sterben dort seitdem Tausende von Menschen an Krebs, auch unsere Bundeswehr-Friedenstruppen sind von der Erkrankung betroffen.  Regierung und Bundestagsabgeordnete schweigen dazu, genau wie eine zum Schweigen gezwungene Presse.

Nina Hagen stellt einen deutschen Film vor, der von dieser Situation in dramatischen Bildern und Aussagen berichtet. Mit ihren Gästen will sie die Thematik besprechen und ihr mehr Aufmerksamkeit verschaffen – aber auch die Gründe und Hintergründe für die Kriege selbst.

Atomkritischer Epidemiologe, bis 2005 Leiter des Bremer Instituts für Prävention und Sozialmedizin (BIPS), Mitglied im Expertengremium der Kinderkrebsstudie des Bundesamts für Strahlenschutz. Arbeitet am Zusammenhang von Uranmunition und Kinderkrebs mit der Uni Basrah zusammen. Er kommt gerade aus Kuwait zurück.

Wolfgang Eggert

beschäftigt sich seit 15 Jahren intensiv mit politischen Übergriffen von Geheimdiensten und Messianischen Sekten. In seinem achten und letzten Buch "Erst Manhattan, dann Berlin" schreibt er über Netzwerke, die den Irakkrieg als erfüllte Prophetie betrachten und den Konflikt zu einem nuklearen Holocaust in Nahost ausweiten wollen. Marion Küpker

initierte als Koordinatorin der Gewaltfreien Aktion Atomwaffen abschaffen ( http://www.gaaaya.org ) im Jahr 2003 die Welturanwaffenkonferenz in Hamburg. Sie wird über die jetzigen internatio­nalen u nationalen Aktivitäten gegen Uranwaffen informieren, z.B. wird aus der dt. Friedens- und Umweltbewegung eine epidemiologische Studie unterstützt, die mit irakischen Ärzten vor Ort in Basrah durchgeführt wird und genaue Daten über das Ausmaß des Gesundheits­zustandes der dortigen Bevölkerung durch die Uranwaffen-Einsätze 1991 und 2003 liefern soll. http://www.uranwaffenkonferenz.de

On Sunday, March 9^th, 2008, as part of the Alternatives to War and Occupation: International Iraq Conference 2008 in Berlin, international punk rock star and peace activist, Nina Hagen, will moderate a panel discussion entitled Forbidden Knowledge in a World Turned Upside Down. 

The panel will discuss the findings in the film Deadly Dust (Todesstaub) by Frieder Wagner, which reports on the use of uranium weapons by the German Federal Armed Forces mission in Afghanistan.  Depleted uranium has horrific consequences for humanity. Thousands of people, including members of the Federal Armed Forces and peace troops, have fallen ill with cancer and some have died horrible deaths as a result of depleted uranium, as they also have in Iraq and Kosovo.

The government and the members of the Bundestag remain silent, and very few people in Germany know much about this, but the time has come for these dark secrets to be revealed.

Nina Hagen will moderate a panel discussion about the use of uranium weapons, the causes and backgrounds of war, as well as alternatives to war.

Sabine Brosowski
 is a politician and mother of three. She and her family live within sight of the Krümmel nuclear power station, on the river Elbe. She has worked with the Citizens' Initiative Against Leukemia in the Elbmarsch for three years, investigating the largest group of childhood cancer cases in the world. Research has shown that the closer a child lives to a nuclear power plant, the greater the risk for cancer. www.biglie.de

Prof. Dr. Eberhard Greiser
 is an epidemiologist. He was the head of the Institute for Prevention and Social Medicine in Bremen (BIPS) until 2005. He is a member of the brain trust of the study of children's cancer of the Federal Radiation Protection Agency. He is working with the University of Basra on the correlation between uranium munitions and children's cancer. He has just returned from Kuwait.

Wolfgang Eggert  has been doing intensive research for 15 years on political take-overs by secret agencies and messianic sects. In his eighth and latest book First Manhattan - Then Berlin he investigates religiously-oriented networks and messianic elites who present the greatest danger to world peace. He explores the character, connections and effects of the network of these groups, which perceive the war in Iraq as a fulfilled prophecy, and their intention to extend the conflict to a nuclear holocaust in the Middle East. Marion Küpker initiated the world uranium weapons conference in Hamburg in 2003 as the coordinator of the Nonviolent Action to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (www.gaaa.org). She will speak about the current international and national activities against uranium weapons. She will focus on an epidemiological studies, supported by the German peace and environment movement, which are being carried out on site in Basra with Iraqi medical scientists. Frieder Wagner is filmmaker of, Deadly Dust (Todesstaub), which addresses the use of uranium weapons as a war crime. Wagner notes that The World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) recently announced that they expected a huge increase in the number of cancer deaths over the next decade, and he will present their statistics and offer his thoughts on the connection of these rising cancer related deaths and depleted uranium. www.medical-tribune.de/patienten/news/21970/

Nina Hagen, moderator, is an internationally acclaimed musician and performer, and a passionate peace activist. An opera prodigy by age nine, Nina Hagen has an extraordinary vocal range, and is best known as the "mother of punk rock."  Her political views were influenced by her step-father, Wolf Biermann, a well known revolutionary and anti-establishment singer-songwriter, as well as by her paternal grandfather's death in the Sachenhausen concentration camp.

The 44-minute version of Frieder Wagner's film, Deadly Dust (Todesstaub) will be shown on Monday evening, March 10^th, at a separate event at the BKA-Theatre in Berlin Kreuzberg .More info's will follow a.s.a.p.
